The first two weeks of preschool have been brutal emotionally. Between separating from him after pretty much being together 24/7 his whole life, and processing this as his entry into independence and experiences he’ll have all on his own. I know how important it is for him to go through it all, to let him pave his own path in his own direction. I’m here as support and guidance, and not as a shield from things that are difficult and possibly painful. I know all too well that they make you stronger, wiser, and propel you forward toward a greater good in one way or another.
He’s been adjusting pretty well since starting with a few teary goodbyes, and steps forward and back developmentally, but I’m really proud of him, and of myself, for how far we have come in such a short time.
It really is short, life. I think about it all the time. It’s one of those rights of passage when you become a parent and finally understand what they meant when your own parents said to you “it goes by so fast.” So hold on tightly. It is so so precious.

They married in front of ancient earth and desert wind, with only their parents and myself bearing witness. They did it their way, and it was beautiful.

Me: Ok, at the count of three, say the name of the person who said I love you first. One, two, three...
Meena: Steve.
Steve: The name of the person who said I love you first.

This little guy is going to be a big brother this year! We are very excited to be welcoming a little lady into our home in October 💕
